Happy Holi 04 | Festival of Colours Copper Wall Art is just an explosion of bright colours.
This design is a follow-up of Happy Holi 01 which started as an experiment over the week-end of 27 March. I decided to have a play session with my enamelling kiln, bits of copper, colourful enamel and stencils.
29th March 2021 was also Holi, the Indian festival of colours. So it made perfect sense to make a few more colourful enamelled tiles and have my own festival of colour.
I am really having a lot of fun with enamel. My enamelling kiln has added a whole new dimension to my work.
This picture on copper has been mounted on a piece of recycled pallet wood by my husband Dave.
HAPPY HOLI 04 | Festival of Colours Copper Wall Art is 14 x 14 cm square. The tile is 10 cm x 10 cm.
This wall mountable picture has a string at the back. If you prefer you can display it using a small plate holder or stand. This would work well for displaying on the mantelpiece or window-sill.
The pallet wood mount has been made using an ancient Japanese method of preserving wood known as Shou Sugi Ban. The wood is burnt using a blow torch. I dyed it using a black water based dye because I think the black background makes the colours really stand out.
Dave works with wood, wire and rocks. Some of his work is listed in my online shop here.
